Hip, hip, hooray! Today is the 100th day of school. We have learned many, many things in 100 days. Ask your child to share with you what they have learned so far in Kindergarten.
Since today is the 100th day, we celebrated the 100th way. We made 100 day crowns to wear throughout the day. We made a 100th day necklace by counting 10 sets of ten Fruit Loops. We read books about the 100th day of school, and we wrote numbers from 1-100!
Perhaps your child can gather 100 objects around your house and practice counting them. You might try counting them by making 10 sets of ten, 20 sets of five, or simply one at a time.
We have been learning about the solar system and the eight planets. That's right-eight! We learned that scientist no longer consider Pluto a planet. In 2006, astronomers decided a planet needed to be the only large object in its area. Pluto shares its space with hundreds of other objects. That's why Pluto isn't called a planet anymore.
We visited the Star Lab planetarium that was set up in the Cowboy Cafe this week. It was very dark inside! We viewed the constellations on the dome ceiling. Ask your child about their experience in the Star Lab.
